Ruth and Jordan Monsell are a mother-and-son team whose artistic
abilities are distinctive, polished, and diverse.
Ruth, who was "born with a crayon in her hand," inherited her talent from her grandfather, a prominent
commercial artist. She won her first award at the age of eight, and went on to study art and art history
in high school and college, both in the United States and Europe. Ruth has since worked as an artist-in-residence
at dozens of schools, taught portraiture and silhouette art, and worked "live" at hundreds of art shows.
Newspapers first published Jordans artwork when he was only seven. At twelve, he wrote and marketed his first book
of cartoons, entitled Full Moon, soon followed by
Full Moon Two. During high school, he won a Marie Walsh
Sharpe art scholarship to study painting at a prominent school
in Colorado. Jordan furthered his skills as a student at the University
of Connecticut, where his cartoons were published daily in the universitys
newspaper. Over the past nine years, he has worked at art shows in several
states, creating caricatures with delightful -- and often hilarious -- results.
Jordan is also an illustrator and actor. To view Jordan's Online Portfolio of original pieces, visit http://www.jordanmonsell.com/.
